What's a good warm-up to do before a 5K? And if the race is longer, say a 10K, then does the warm-up need to be different than that for a 5K?

A good warm up is essential in training and racing. Now is your opportunity to learn how to warm up correctly, as well as your chance to understand "that those strange people were never trying to push the wall down after all."

This one works good for me (it comes from Jack Daniels):
15 a 20 min steady running (tempo pace (20sec slower then 10k pace)
3 a 5 strides (100m) at expected race pace, warm up until the start is given !
