European Cross Triathlon series begins - TheEd - 25-05-2013

The opening race of the ETU TNatura European Cross Triathlon series begins this Sunday in Orosei, Sardinia.

The 2013 season will act as a pilot series which will see a full scale race series introduced to the European Cross Triathlon calendar in 2014.

Since 2007, Orosei and its wonderful Gulf have hosted one of the most famous Cross Triathlon events in the world, seen as a reference test for Elite and Age Group athletes on a global scale.

President of the European Triathlon Union, Renato Bertrandi, said: “It is with real pleasure that I welcome all the triathletes to the 7th edition of this historic race at Orosei.

“ETU has signed an agreement with Island Group for the development of a European circuit and the first race in Orosei, the first one branded TNatura, in preparation of the TNatura circuit that will start next season.

“I take the opportunity to wish you all a great race in Orosei”

President of the Italian Triathlon Federation, Luigi Bianchi, said: “TNatura is an important moment for Italian Triathlon and we could not wish for a better organisation and location than Orosei, which has become a classic and an unmissable point of reference.”

Sandro Salerno, CEO of Island Group, said: “For this race in Orosei, we have done everything possible to look into every detail on the technical point of view, as the test event for the whole ETU TNatura circuit.

“We are convinced that the project has all the necessary elements to offer to the lovers of triathlon and all off-road sports in general unique experience in marvellous location where the sport race becomes an opportunity to test not only yourself but also to confront yourself with different countryside, culture and people, in line with the value of respect and sharing.”
