Adventure at Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve - TheEd - 10-10-2014

The second race of the Spur KZN Trail Seriesâ„¢ stuck to the tradition of being a wet affair as the rains came down at the magnificent Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve on Wednesday evening.

This race saw the short course Challenge runners traverse a loop of 5.3km with the long course Championship runners having a crack at two loops taking their distance to 10.6km. Adding to this adventure is the fact that this was of course a night run!

In the men’s long course, Ayanda Mlotshwa from Montrose cruised home in a time of 47:17 while Christine Whitfield from Durban North put in a dominant display to take first place in a time of 01:05:53.

In the short course Challenge race, Montrose resident Owen Bengo upped his game to take the win in a time of 26:13. Sabrina Ward won the ladies’ race with a good time of 32:44 with young Tate Steward continuing to impress as she took second place with her time of 33:19.

With the third race of the Series taking place next Wednesday at Giba Gorge the competition to be Series champion is set to be fierce as we approach the end of another great Series in KZN.

A big thanks to our sponsors; Spur Steak Ranches, adidas, BOS Ice Tea and Protea Hotels for making this Series possible!
