without the technology, how are you feeling when you exercise, are you feeling sluggish or is there 'vibrancy' returning?
and I guess the weather can't be helping

Hi Ed,
Getting back towards being my normal self, so managed to run today. Don't normally run on a Tuesday but my usual Tuesday volunteering activity at a local school didn't happen because term had finished. I decided to run without getting any updates on pace during the run. I would just run for fun and not worry about the pace. It was a bit cold (by English standards) so I did not run really slowly because I wanted to keep warm. Nonetheless no real effort for most of the time and then a bit of a push for the last km or so because I could feel I had plenty of spare energy (well, ok, some spare energy!).
I ran 5.18 km in 31.53 mins. Each km was faster than the previous one, starting at 6.18 and ending at 5.40. Heart rate rose quickly to around 160, although (surprisingly) it did drop back to around 125 after about five mins then it climbed back to around 160 for the rest of the run. Average HR: 161 max around 170.
I felt OK at the end of the run. Hope to manage one or two more runs before the end of the year.
Happy New Year, Ed! I didn't manage to do another run before the end of 2025 but I did one yesterday. I have now switched off the pace message I used to get at the end of each k, so I now just run and ignore pace, which is a new experience for me and quite nice, although I am always wondering about what pace I am doing. Anyway, it was icy which gave me an additional reason for going slowly (and I was probably also not in great shape after the festive period).
I did 6.29 k in 40.34 mins so average pace of 6.27 which made it my 124th faster run! Pace was fairly consistent - between 6.10 and 6.37. Heart rate hit 163 bpm more or less from the start and stayed there pretty consistently for the whole run. I hope to run again tomorrow (Sunday) although it may be icy again, although you may consider it warm weather (around 0).
