I guess so. I knew beforehand that I wouldn't beat my pb based upon my recent race times. I thought I would get around a 1:27.

I didn't go out with any real strategy. I tweaked my hamstring slightly around the 10 mile marker meaning I couldn't push on and get closer to the PB time. So I sat in a maintained 7 min miles to the finish.

I haven't been out since the race but I'm planning on starting again today.

I'm pleased I was able to get a respectable time and feel I could go faster with a more structure longer training plan.

the splits do show a decline in pace however I am not sure of the course

how is the hamstring now?

The course was flat throughout, very little in the way of inclines.

Went out tonight, my hamstring was still tight, so I only did four miles. I'm not sure of the best way to treat it.

Thanks for the tips. I went out on Sunday and ran 8 miles at 8 min/mi pace. No issues with the hamstrings.

I would like to get back to training this week and was hoping you could advise where I should pick up the training plan?

Thanks

If you have no hamstring problems then you can pick up Day 1 on Tuesday with day 3 on Thursday

that is the routine

Hi,

I thought I would bring this thread back to life!

In 2011 I was injured so didn't run much and I started to get back into it last year.

After falling into the dreaded training trap of repeating the same training over and over I have recently started to focus on varying my sessions correctly again. My times from the 6 x 1k with 60s rest from today.

1k 03:52
2k 03:37
3k 03:38
4k 03:41
5k 03:43
6k 03:36
