Tata signs Amsterdam Marathon sponsorship
Tata Consultancy Services has associated itself, as the main and title sponsor, with the Amsterdam Marathon for a period of five years. Tata Consultancy Services and Le Champion announced this morning during a press conference at the residence of Mayor Van der Laan. The event, whose 36th edition takes place on Sunday, October 16, 2011 now bears the name TCS Amsterdam Marathon.
“With TCS as the title sponsor Amsterdam is now guaranteed to have world class athletics for the foreseeable future,” said Simone Richardson, director of Le Champion. “In addition to our ambition to be amongst the five fastest marathons in the world, we want to grow into one of the biggest marathons in Europe. We are confident that this partnership with TCS will make a huge contribution to these goals.”
TCS is a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm, has been operating in the Netherlands since 1992 and the unit is currently one of its largest country operations worldwide.
“We want to give back to the communities we work in”, said Surya Kant, President of TCS North America, UK & Europe. “An inclusive sport such as running, which has no entry barriers and can be taken up anyone, provides tremendous opportunity to widely engage the local community and promote wellness. The Netherlands has always been a key center of operations for us and we are pleased to support the Amsterdam Marathon as part of our larger commitment to the community.”
Also the City of Amsterdam is proud of the sponsorship, because this contribute to the ambition to host the Olympic Games in 2028.
