Kipchoge, Bekele to face off in London 2020

The Two Fastest Men in the history of the Marathon, Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya (defending champion and world record holder), and Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia, are to face off in Virgin Money London Marathon on April 26.

Kipchoge vs Bekele – London Marathon 2020 – Clash of the Titans

With Kipchoge at 2:01:39 and Bekele at 2:01:41, set at Berlin in 2018 and 2019 respectively, London is set for an almighty clash of the titans.

When it comes to racing head to head, Kipchoge is King, he has done it all, and is undoubtedly the best marathon runner in history to date. In Bekele, we have an athlete seemingly transformed and it has added an exciting element to thought of head to head racing.

Hugh Brasher, the event director considers the two going to head as something special:

“This is a match-up of two of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen and two men who already have their names in the record books. We are thrilled we have been able to make it happen in London.

“It is truly fitting that this match-up between two legends of the sport takes place at this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon, the 40th race in the fantastic history of our event. It is the head-to-head the world is waiting to see.”

Many of us cannot disagree and London Marathon on April 26th 2020 is certainly an event for the diary. Make sure not to miss it
