After her impressive run at the weekend in the World Cross Country Championships in Poland, Fionnuala Britton now focuses on the road as she prepares for the SPAR Great Ireland Run on 14 April in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. Defending champion Fionnuala Britton will lead the Irish charge at the 19th SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Budapest, Hungary, on 9 December.
The 28-year-old has been shaping up well to defend her title in the Hungarian capital. She finished fourth in a very competitive field at the VIII Cross de Atapuerca in Burgos, Spain, earlier this month and an equally creditable third place finish in a classy field in the Cross de l’Acier, France, at the weekend. Fionnuala Britton strikes Velenje Gold
Fionnuala Britton (Kilcoole AC) put in a stellar performance of front running to take the gold medal at the 18th SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Velenje, Sloveni. This is Ireland’s second senior women’s gold medal in the history of these championships, with Catherina McKiernan winning the inaugural senior Women’s race in 1994. [Read more…]
