Connemara International prepares 2015 Marathon

connemara marathon

The Connemara International Marathon is one of the world’s most scenic events, set in the dramatic scenery of the west of Ireland. 2015 will mark its fourteenth year in running, growing in numbers each year from 73 runners to our sell out point, in excess of 3,000 runners. The event will take place this year on Sunday April 12th.

Connemara International Marathon 2015

The event comprises of a Half Marathon, a Full Marathon and a 39.3 mile Ultra Marathon. Participants will run/walk past some of Ireland’s most beautiful scenery along the course which meanders through bogs, hills, lakes, and the twelve pins mountain range, rising up over the great expanse of Killary Lough, through the quiet sleepy village of Leenane, around the Maam Turk Mountains and all the way up to Maam Cross.

The tranquillity and beauty of the route attracts runners and walkers from all over the world, in 2014 the Connemarathon attracted participants from 28 countries who adored the dramatically stunning course. Our International participants enjoy the warm Irish welcome along with the sense of comradeship on the route and the unmistakable buzz throughout the day. No other sporting event sends people away with such a taste of Ireland and its highlights.

The addition of the challenging 39.3 mile route launched in 2004 has proved an enormous success. Ultra distance running has grown in popularity throughout the world on a scale not seen since the eighties.

We stride in taking care of our participants on the day of the event. You don’t have to worry about a thing.
