Bayabel, Yalew win Egmond Half Marathon

Ganet Yalew - Egmond Half Marathon 2016

Ethiopians Yekeber Bayabel and Genet Yalew won Sunday’s 44th Saucony Egmond Half Marathon. He had the finishing stretch along Boulevard Noord to himself and completed the race in 1:08:08. High southerly winds made it the slowest race since 1985. On track for a medal for much of the race, Abdi Nageeye developed a side stitch in the last few kilometres and had to concede to Bernard Kipyego and Abera Kuma, who finished second and third. Today, during a thrilling final, John Mwangangi won the Dam tot Damloop for the second time. In an epic duel, the 23-year old Kenyan knocked out his rival Nguse Amlosom, who won the event last year. At the finish on the Peperstraat people were showered with confetti after 45.45 minutes. [Read more…]
