Valerie Adams has become the first thrower in 32 years to win Track & Field News women’s athlete of the year award.

BOSTON – (October 7, 2012) – Sunny skies and a temperature of 51F degrees at the start were the backdrop for the 12th B.A.A. Half Marathon presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. The rain that was forecasted earlier in the week never fell and would not dampen the spirits of the record crowd of 5,459 starters gathered in Boston’s Franklin Park on a beautiful autumn day in New England. Lucy Van Dalen shot into Olympic Games contention with a slashing run at the San Diego Summer Nights Track & Field Series.

Sarah Biss cut five minutes off her personal best in finishing 17th in the Rotterdam Marathon in 2h 39m 20s. Biss went through the half way mark in 1h 16m 21s. She faced tough windy conditions over the second half.
Tiki Gelana of Ethiopia won in the fourth fastest all time for a woman of 2h 18m 58s.
Biss’ previous best was 2h 44m 32s for 16th place in last October’s Chicago Marathon. [Read more…]
