IAAF extends timing partnership

timing

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is proud to announce that an agreement has been signed with SEIKO to continue as an Official IAAF Partner for another six years, 2014-2019.

The long standing partnership began in 1985, with an agreement that SEIKO would provide timing services to the 1987 IAAF World Championships in Rome and several other events in the intervening period. Over the next 26 years, this agreement proved to have been the start of one of world sport’s most enduring partnerships.

The new agreement will include three IAAF World Championships, in Beijing in 2015, London in 2017 and in 2019, the host city for which will be decided by IAAF Council in November 2014. The agreement also covers 22 other events during the period, including IAAF World Indoor Championships, the IAAF World Junior and IAAF World Youth Championships.

“I am delighted that the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and SEIKO have renewed their long standing partnership for a further six years. This announcement is a further endorsement that the global sport of Athletics remains extremely attractive to major corporations,” confirmed IAAF President Lamine Diack.

“The IAAF is proud to continue to have the support of a company of the international stature of SEIKO. Athletics is a statistical sport and since the beginning of our relationship with SEIKO which included the provision of timing services at the second edition of the IAAF World Championships in 1987, they have pioneered many technical innovations to better record and display athletics performances. SEIKO’s passion for and commitment to Athletics is universally acknowledged and has substantially increased the understanding and enjoyment of Athletics. From 2014 to 2019 the IAAF and SEIKO will continue to work closely together for the further benefit of athletes, media and sports fans worldwide.”
