Quebec City Marathon Events

The Quebec City Marathon Events over the weekend of the 22nd August 2014, was a huge success. Run over a weekend of warm weather where more than 13000 runners participated in the various events, which saw the bulk of 11000 take part on Sunday, 23rd August.

With the headline event being the Marathon on Sunday, the heat would contribute to the slower times over the 42km distance, with Maiko Evans winning in 2 hr 36 minutes and 46 seconds. Joanne Normand was the victor in the Women’s category winning comfortably in 3:06:34.

Powerful running in Quebec Half Marathon

Berhanu Degefa took the Half Marathon title in a decent 65:10 with Marilou Ferland-Daigle taking the Women’s title in 84:56.

Considering that temperatures rose to 35 degrees, the performances on the day were of a high standard.

The Growth of the Quebec City Events

With the event entries rising to over 13000 Quebec City can feel that they are achieving their dreams of the event becoming an International Running Festival, and with the support from SSQ Financial Group, the organisers have put together a winning formula.

Participants came from around the globe, with athletes from Norway, Brazil and Germany listed amongst the many finishers on Quebec City’s day of success.

The Charity Drive

The SSQ Quebec City Marathon is also an opportunity to support a cause they care about. This year, they have decided to support the Seinbiose research project, which aims to develop customized external breast prostheses, an alternative for women who have had a mastectomy.

Quebec City Marathon Events raised 106 423$ for this project sponsored by the Fondation du CHU de Québec.
