Athletics Canada selects team for Doha 2019

OTTAWA – Athletics Canada announced their team of 49 athletes who have been selected to represent Canada at the 2019 IAAF World Championships taking place in Doha, Qatar, from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6. All events will be held at Doha’s Khalifa Stadium with the exception of the marathon and race walk that will take place at Doha Croniche and will see athletes run along the Doha Bay and the city’s seafront. Glasgow, SCO – The Canadian athletics Commonwealth team took home five medals on day four of track and field competition at the Commonwealth Games. Derek Drouin of Corunna, Ont., and Brianne Theisen-Eaton of Humboldt, Sask., won gold; Jessica Zelinka of London, Ont., won silver; and Julie Labonté of Ste-Justine, Que., and Michael Mason of Nanoose Bay, B.C., picked up bronze medals. Glasgow, SCO – The Canadian track and field team won two medals within about 30-minutes of time on the second day of competition at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Both medals were won in throwing events, Sultana Frizell of Perth, Ont., won gold in the hammer and Tim Nedow of Brockville, Ont., took bronze in the shot put. [Read more…]

Moncton, N.B. – Brent Lakatos of Dorval, Que., and Diane Roy of Sherbrooke, Que., won a pair of Para-athletics national titles on day two of the Canadian Track and Field Championships. Lakatos won gold in the wheelchair T53 200 and 1500-metres while Roy took gold in the women’s events bringing both of their total gold medal counts at these Championships to four. [Read more…]

Canadian Team for World Relays

world relay 2014 OTTAWA – The first edition of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Relays is approaching and Athletics Canada is pleased today to name 20 athletes to the Canadian team.
