VANCOUVER – Cross Country fans watched some great races unfold today in Vancouver, B.C., with the 2012 Canadian Cross Country Championships at Jericho Park. Cameron Levins of Black Creek, B.C., and Megan Brown of Guelph, Ont., were crowned the 2012 Canadian Champions in the senior race while Dylan Brown of Newmarket, Ont., and Jillian Forsey of Kippens, NFLD., took the junior titles. Cameron Levins of Black Creek, B.C., struck gold on Saturday in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad at the 2012 NACAC Cross Country Championships. Levins won the senior men’s 8km race in a time of 24:04.13; leading the Canadian senior team to silver. [Read more…]

Athletics Canada announced today the athletes that will travel to Port-of-Spain, Trinidad for the 2012 North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) Cross Country Championships to be held Saturday March 17. Port-of-Spain was good to the squad which competed at last year’s edition with the junior men and women taking gold and the senior men and women winning silver. 2012 returnees Cameron Levins (senior men) and Maria Bernard (junior women) won silver and bronze respectively. Kendra Schaaf takes Cross title

VANCOUVER – The weather didn’t cooperate but that didn’t stop great racing today at Jericho Beach Park in Vancouver, B.C., site of the 2011 Canadian Cross Country Championships.  Cameron Levins of Black Creek, B.C., successfully defended his title in the men’s senior age category.  Kendra Schaaf of Craven, Sask., took the Canadian title in the women’s senior race in a time of 25:00 minutes.  Ryan Cassidy of Grande-Digue, N.B., and Ellen Pennock of Calgary, Alta., took the men’s and women’s junior titles respectively.       [Read more…]

Personally, this year was a very different experience going to the Championships, a heavier load of pressure maybe, but also higher expectations for myself and for my team mates. For the first time, I was coming into a World Championships as a known contender for a top-ten placing and even be for a medal depending of the calibre of the race that is always very variable every year.
