OTTAWA – Eighteen of Canada’s best wheelchair racers, including world record holders Diane Roy of Sherbrooke, Que., and Michelle Stilwell of Nanoose Bay, B.C., have traveled to Switzerland to compete in a series of meets being held May 17, 19 and 20.

Roy is the world record holder in the T54 classification 5000-metres, in Switzerland she will race in this event as well as compete in the 400, 800 and 1500-metres.  Stilwell got her season off to a blazing start breaking three world records over four days in January at the Summer Down Under series in Australia. She currently holds world records in the T52 classification 100, 200 and 400-metres.

“The Daniela Jutzeler Memorial and the Swiss Nationals are very important to these athletes looking to achieve Paralympic standards and compete against the best in the world,” says Ueli Albert, National Wheelchair Racing Coach.  Albert adds, “The 2012 Swiss Series is a chance to build confidence and make minor adjustments going into London.”
