Mark Bright, from the Lynndale Club in Auckland, won the New Zealand 100km road running title in Taupo on Saturday.
Held in conjunction with the Great Lake Relay, Bright covered the distance in 8 hours 8 minutes to beat 2004 and defending champion Graeme Butcher of Masterton by just on an hour. Andrew Brown Of Valleys United was third in 9h 43m.
Bright the 2002 New Zealand marathon champion won the 100km title in 1999 and 2000.
Carrie White of Wellington Scottish won the women's 100km title in 9h 44m from Lisa Lusskandl of Egmont Athletics and Marion Roberts of Rotorua. White won the women's section in last year's Masterton marathon.
