Teams selected for world cross country championships

New Zealand will be sending five athletes to the world cross country championships to be held in Edinburgh Scotland on 30 March.

Jessica Ruthe of Tauranga will compete in the senior women's 8000m, North Canterbury's Ruth Croft the junior women's 6000m, Rees Buck of Wellington and Aucklander Edwin Henshaw based in the States in the senior men's 12,000m and Dominic Channon of Nelson in the junior men's 8000m.
Both Henshaw and Buck are required to complete a fitness test.

Buck represented New Zealand at three successive world cross country championships, 2003 Lausanne 44th in the short course and 61st in the long course, 2004 Brussels 91st in the short course and 90th in the long course and 2005 Saint-Etienne Saint-Galmier 59th in the short course and 88th in the long course.

Ruthe was 72nd in the short course in Brussels in 2004, 24th at the 2006 world championships in Fukuoka and 44th last year in Mombasa Kenya.
Rosemary Wright of Tauranga is the manager of the team to Edinburgh.

Ruth Croft has also been selected to represent New Zealand at the 16th world university cross country championships, prior to the world championships, in Mauquenchy France on 5 and 6 April.

Shaun Krawitz from Auckland based in the States and currently competing in Australia has been selected in the men's race at the university championships.
