Recently acquired former national cross country champion Andrew Davidson from Canterbury consolidated their lead leaving Mike Banks and Ben Moynihan to comfortably cement the victory. Their total time for the 33.8km was 1:51:27, nine minutes faster than Wesley in second. Pakuranga were third in 2:03:16. ACA should improve on their 12th placing last year when they return to Christchurch in two weeks’ time for the national championship based on the annual Takahe to Akaroa relay.

The ACA Club also won the senior women’s relay, with Margie Peat, Martina Fellmann and Lydia Ingram completing the 20.8km in 1:25:42 to beat Pakuranga by six minutes. Glen Eden were third in 1:32:18. Pakuranga won the junior men while ACA dominated the junior women. YMCA had the master women to themselves and the master men went to ACA and University in the over 50 grades.
