Athletics New Zealand has announced four relay squads to prepare for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Twenty one athletes have been initially named in the squads. The squads consist of athletes who have achieved the entry standards and have expressed an interest in joining the squads. The squad standards will be reviewed annually and will rise each year as the programme aims to field relay teams at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The squads are:

Men’s 4x100m (entry standard of 10.75s or better in the 100m)
Joseph Millar
Kodi Harman
Tama Toki
Carl Van Der Speck
Andy Kruy
Isaac Tatoa

Men’s 4x400m (entry standard of 48s or better in the 400m)
Tama Toki
Frazer Wickes
Alex Jordan
Dan O’Shea
James Mortimer
Matt Robinson
Andrew Whyte

Women’s 4x100m (entry standard of 12.20s or better in the 100m)
Anna Smythe
Fiona Morrison
Larissa Dyke
Rochelle Coster
Molly Florence
Rachel Peeters

Women’s 4x400m (entry standard of 56s or better in the 400m)
Talia Horgan
Ellie McCleery

Other athletes may also be invited to be involved with the squads in training camps in order to facilitate higher quality competitive training.

Relay Selections for Japanese Grand Prix Competitions
The immediate focus for the relay squads is the Japanese Grand Prix meetings being held in early May of 2012. The meetings have a Men’s and Women’s 4x100m and a Men’s 4x400m on their programmes. The following athletes have been selected to run in two meetings in Japan on May 3rd in Shizuoka and May 6th in Kawasaki.
