The Year 2017 in Review

runner of the year 2017

The Year 2017 in Review – 2017 has been a busy year in the world of track and road running. Over the marathon distance, Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya, proved to be the marathoner of the year while cementing his claim to being the Best Ever Marathon Runner, and our Runner of the Year.

The Year 2017 in Review – Eliud Kipchoge No1 Marathoner

Firstly the smooth flowing Kenyan looked to become the first athlete to break the 2hr marathon mark, by participating in the ‘lab styled’ , event on Monza Race Circuit in Italy. Supported by the world’s best runners, who took turns to pace Kipchoge, the runner came exasperating close by clocking 2:00:25. It was the fastest time ever run over the marathon distance, but could not be accepted as a record do to the pacing provided. Kipchoge then took aim at breaking the record proper, at Berlin Marathon 2017. On the day, the weather did not play its part, however the exceptional Kipchoge was able to win in a time of 2:02:32, after a hard fought battle over the last 5km.

Mo Farah end Track career

Top performing distance track star, Mo Farah of Britain, ended his career on the oval circuit, with a win over 10000m at the London World Championships, and to his surprise he finally won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Rather belated considering all he had achieved in the previous Olympic Games and World Championships. It certainly ‘beggars belief’.

On the Time-to-Run side, our 10k Training Programs continue to enjoy large popularity and with the advice given on the Training Forums, we provide runners with a high quality service from which all can benefit.
