New Zealand athletes scored two victories at the world challenge meeting in Melbourne, Stuart Farquhar had a season’s best throw of 81.07m with the javelin and Fiona Morrison clocked a personal best of 13.45s in winning the 100m hurdles. This betters her previous best of 13.48s in Sydney in March.

Personal bests were also recorded by Camille Buscomb with 4m 18.86s in the 1500m, improving on her 4m 19.66s set in Melbourne last year, Hugo Beamish who ran the 5000m in 13m 47.34s to better an indoor time of 13m 51.60s recorded in Seattle in February 2011 and Cameron French with a time of 50.56s in the 400m hurdles bettering his third placing time of 50.87s at this year’s nationals.
